Shoulder Update

Wes went to see Dr. Burton today in F'ton to get some xrays done for his upcoming surgery. Dr. Burton said that his shoulder has gotten considerably worse since his last xrays in January. There is no cartiledge left what-so-ever and a lot more osteoarthritis. He indicated that his surgery would be in October and would call with an exact date within the next couple of weeks. They won't be doing a total replacement but will be doing a re-surfacing (cutting off the humeral head and placing a prosthesis in to serve as the humeral head) and cleaning out the osteoarthristis. He indicated that this will be the first step and see how it goes. If it does not go well, then they will do the replacement. Dr. Burton indicated he would probably be in the hospital for 2-3 days. He also indicated that he would be doing the surgery with Dr. Barnhill (tag team of orthopedic surgeons) as he is specialized in shoulders too. Dr. Burton couldn't get over how bad his shoulder was at his age. It just keeps decreasing.

So we are both very glad that things are going the way we would like. Still a bit of a wait until the surgery but at least we know it's coming!

Just wanted to keep you posted!!

Take Care!!
